About the novel

Squire is the third book in the Protector of the Small Quartet by Tamora Pierce. In this book, the heroine Keladry of Mindelan is squire to Lord Raoul of the King's Own. Along the way of learning how to be a proper girl, she comes across a griffin that she 'adopts' for a short period of time before her friend Daine can find the griffin's parents. Then there's Kel's sweetheart, Cleon of Kennan, whom she falls for in a hard way. By far this is the most interesting of the quartet, but by sure to read First Test and Page before Squire, and then after, read Lady Knight.
