Paul McGillion
Paul was born on January 5, 1969 in Paisley, Scotland. He is the sixth of seven children and his family emigrated to Canada from Scotland when he was 2 years old. His family later went back to Scotland for a few years when he was 11 years old and then they went back to Canada. He is best known for the role of the lovable Scottish doctor, Carson Beckett, on Stargate Atlantis. Originally casted as a recurring role, Paul's character appeared for most of the first season and he was promoted to a series regular for seasons two and three. He taught scene study at the Vancouver Film School in 1998 and 1999. In 1997, Paul played the first Tau'ri (young Ernest Littlefield) to go through the Stargate in "The Torment of Tantalus" in the first season of Stargate SG-1. As well, despite the fact that Paul speaks with a Scottish accent as Carson Beckett, the actor does not speak with a Scottish ccent except when with his family.
